Timer repository on GitHub

The timer this guide installs is published as vladelaina/Catime under Apache-2.0. Releases, SECURITY.md, PRIVACY.md, and the README live on that repo. Homepage marketing also appears at cati.me.

What to open first

Start with Releases when you need catime_*.exe. Start with the README when you need tray click behavior, edit mode, and timeout action lists. Start with PRIVACY.md when you need the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Catime\ path. Start with SECURITY.md when SmartScreen or antivirus raises a reputation warning on a portable MinGW build.

License text is Apache-2.0 at the LICENSE file linked from the repo. That license is why this install guide can document the timer without inventing a paid seat. Home pillar: timer home.

Stars and fork counts change over time. This site surfaces live GitHub stats in the home footer area so you do not rely on a stale screenshot. Numbers never replace filename checks on Releases.

Source shape

The project is written in C for Win32. Build scripts and CMake files exist for contributors who compile from source. Everyday readers should prefer the portable exe or winget rather than compiling on day one. Source builds are a power step after a Releases countdown already works.

Companion repos such as Catime-Plugins and MemeTray appear in README tips. Treat them as optional. This timer guide stays on the main app until presets and overlays feel boring in a good way. Overlay guide: tray and overlay.

Internationalization folders and resource assets explain why the binary can feel feature-rich while staying near one megabyte. That still does not excuse downloading a renamed archive from a random mirror.

Issues and security mail

SECURITY.md asks researchers to email vladelaina@gmail.com for security reports. Use GitHub Issues for ordinary bugs after you confirm the version and Windows build. Do not paste secrets into issues. Do not upload personal config.ini files that contain local paths you would rather keep private.

Upstream may mention Discord or QQ groups for community chat. Those spaces are optional. Official install facts for this site still come from RESEARCH.md sourced to GitHub and package registries.

When you file an issue about tray animations or timeout actions, include the version string and whether you installed via winget, Scoop, Chocolatey, or the portable exe. That detail saves maintainers a round trip.

What GitHub is not

GitHub is not a Softonic mirror. If a search ad offers “timer download” with a different publisher string, stop and type the repo URL yourself. GitHub is also not winget; the package id VladElaina.Catime is maintained in microsoft/winget-pkgs and points back at Releases.

Brew had no catime package when verified, which matches the Windows-only Releases list. Do not invent a cask because other desktop tools have one. Releases page: timer releases.

GitHub Releases also is not a promise of macOS or Linux builds. Absence of those assets is a product fact for this timer, not a temporary omission you should paper over with third-party ports of unknown origin.

How Tick Quill cites the repo

Tick Quill verifies asset names, package ids, and privacy claims against the upstream docs on each review date. Figures on this site use original tick-arc geometry, not the upstream mascot, so the mark stays unique. Independence notes live on about and advertising disclosure.

When upstream renames an asset, this site updates site.config assetMatch and re-fetches gh.json. When winget lags a tag, the portable exe on Releases remains valid. Update habits: update and uninstall.

Editorial policy explains how commands are re-checked. Contact explains how to send corrections without creating an account on this guide. Privacy explains what this guide itself collects, which is separate from Catime’s local config model.

Safe download habits: download safe. Desk setup: for this computer. Windows install: install on Windows. Keep the timer keyword attached to local countdowns, and keep Catime attached to the exact repository name.

If you only needed the repo map, you can stop here and return to the timer home install panel. If you still need package manager detail, continue with winget and packages or Scoop install.
